TAWHID
Using the foundation of Islamic belief, the iconic mosque design and compounds are based on the concept of a single and central point of origin. The architecture thus reflects sacred geometry and symmetry using multiples of fifteen and a repetition order that evokes a sense of balance and harmony, with every secondary function originating from the central domed prayer space hosting the primary function of the structure.
MIHRAB
Skylight placed in different locations, in the ceiling, walls create a variety of lighting effects and shadow patterns. To support the skylights, the mosque incorporates buttresses into its design. The buttresses would provide the structural support necessary to hold the skylight in place while also adding an aesthetic element to the design. The buttresses are crafted to lead into a fan-like column inspired by Islamic sacred geometry.
The main feature of this mosque would be a large central hall that could accommodate 5,000 worshippers. The sides to the central hall lead to secondary functions such as classrooms, meeting rooms, and offices. These spaces are designed to be flexible and multi-functional allowing for different events and activities to take place.
The planning thus creates a sense of community and provides an environment for learning, socializing, and spiritual growth. The design reflects the beauty of Islamic architecture while also incorporating modern technologies and sustainable practices.
ALTAJAMA’AT (The Gatherings)
The design features ribbons and minarets in the mosque that intertwine to create a seamless, flowing space that challenges traditional notion of boundary and structure. The ribbons connect all spaces in a fluid manner promoting a sense of unity and continuity throughout the mosque. The minarets, located at each corner of the mosque, embody this fluid language by blurring the lines between horizontal and vertical planes. The surfaces of the minarets flow effortlessly, emphasizing the notion that form follows function. Together, these design elements embody a philosophical approach that encourages worshippers to embrace the fluidity and interconnectedness of all things.
